About the Role

We are recruiting experienced Tutors and Mentors to provide tailored 1:1 educational and pastoral support to children and young people across Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole. These opportunities involve supporting learners who are unable to access mainstream education due to a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), trauma-related presentations, and complex medical needs. Support is delivered within a variety of settings, including family homes, schools, libraries, community venues and other suitable learning environments.

Current Opportunities

  • KS1 Tutor & Mentor supporting SEMH needs, 15 hours per week
  • KS3 English & Maths Tutor, 10 hours per week
  • KS3 Tutor & Mentor roles, up to 25 hours per week
  • Female Mentor opportunities available
  • Home-based and community-based tuition placements

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition sessions
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with young people
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs
  • Support emotional regulation, confidence building and re-engagement with education
  • Monitor progress and provide session feedback where required
  • Maintain safeguarding and professional boundaries at all times
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools and professionals involved in the student's support network

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and young people in educational, mentoring or support settings
  • Knowledge of SEMH, ASD, ADHD, EBSA, trauma-informed practice or other additional needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to deliver creative and flexible learning approaches
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
