Senior Feedstuffs Trader
Job Purpose
The role of the Senior Feedstuffs Trader is to meet the company budget target for the specific product line/lines assigned.
To deliver a trading strategy that meets the set financial and volume targets whilst servicing best interests of ADM Ag customers and ADM Global Trade.
Main Responsibilities
- Delivery of profitable sales and trading activity, driving volumes through key ports and to key customers as identified by the Head of Feedstuffs.
- Lead, understand and deliver trading strategy specific to product line.
- Gain deep understanding of the UK feedstuffs market.
- Coordinate across multiple departments and businesses eg crush, GT, shipping, ex store admin etc in order to facilitate profitable execution.
- Foster relationships with key customers / understand their requirements.
- Articulate any market information via a weekly meeting and report to be sent to the wider GT group.
- Develop detailed understanding of the Ultra IT system.
- Show a thorough understanding of feedstuff trading specifically profit and loss, impacts from trade, logistics and forex.
- To analyse markets and monetize local supply and demand dynamics and report back to GT to achieve best in class execution.
- Liaise closely with the Logistics/Shipping department and learn what is required to make cost efficient trading and execution decisions.
- Produce additional reports to analyse customer behaviour and identify trading opportunities.
- To be an outstanding team member eg to provide opportunities for other employees to develop as well as cover other traders’ responsibilities if/when required.
- Profile
- A degree in Agriculture, Business, Economics, Mathematics or similar discipline would be beneficial
- High level of numeracy and results orientated
- Assertive, with strong self-motivation and has the ability to set challenging goals
- The ability to negotiate in challenging circumstances and make fast and accurate decisions
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
- Commercially focused and able to translate the product
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office/Excel.
