Main Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine analytical tests and organoleptic assessment of raw materials ensuring that procedures are followed carefully.
- Issue certificates of analysis for products as required.
- Communicate results to, and liaise with, other departments such as Production, Development and Purchasing as necessary.
- Provide technical assistance to the Production Department and advise on quality issues throughout the site processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date computer records.
- Maintain and calibrate/check laboratory equipment.
- Ensure all laboratory work is carried out paying attention to good working practice and health and safety.
- Ensure food safety, integrity, legality, and quality.
- Calculate product additions/adjustments as necessary and communicate such additions/adjustments to the production department.
- Sample raw materials (and where necessary finished products) in a manner that ensures the material’s integrity is not compromised.
- Routine collection of water samples for microbiological analysis.
- Send samples to and collaborate with external service providers as necessary.
- Assist technical/development staff with validation projects as required.
- Carry out non-conformance/deviation investigations as necessary and in a timely manner, ensuring that such investigations are documented accurately and comprehensively.
- Assist with quality related matters as deemed appropriate by the QC Supervisor or Quality Managers.
