The E&I shift Technician provides planned, proactive and reactive maintenance, reliability and engineering services across the Purfleet Refinery. This position forms an integral part of both the maintenance and shift operations teams. This role is part of a collective bargaining agreement.

Key features of the programme:

  • Performing proactive maintenance activities on electrical and instrumentation equipment throughout the plant
  • Overhauling, repairing and installing a wide range of equipment using precision maintenance techniques
  • Performing predictive maintenance activities using a range of predictive technologies (e.g. ultrasonic testing, vibration analysis, thermography etc.)
  • Performing diagnostic fault finding and reactive maintenance in response to breakdowns
  • Supporting the Refinery Mechanical Operator (RMO) and shift Operators when necessary
  • Act as a back up to the RMO for operational responsibility of the boiler house
  • Play an integral role in the safe systems of work, participating in the creation of risk assessment and method statements, equipment specific lockout procedures and permit to work activities for maintenance tasks
  • Using the CMMS system to raise and update work orders
  • Participating in root cause analysis and equipment health discussions
  • Supporting organisational initiatives (e.g. Continuous improvement)
  • Mentoring and coaching colleagues and apprentices where needed

Your Profile:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally, written and electronically through email
  • Experience of using Microsoft computer packages
  • CMMS knowledge is preferable
  • Working at height and confined space working will be required (training provided)
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Reliable and adaptable
  • Ability to work in a team
  • C&G, NVQ, ONC or HNC in Electrical / Instrumentation Maintenance / Engineering
  • Time served apprentice
  • Experience in an industrial maintenance environment
  • C&G 2382-26 (18th Edition) Boiler operator accreditation scheme (BOAS) preferred
  • Minimum Level 1 / CAT 1 in any of the predictive technologies is preferable
