This role combines practical, hands-on work with detailed, computer-based tasks to support the development of powders, pastes, capsules, tablets, and other product formats, as well as the improvement of existing products within the ADM Protexin Development Department. Responsibilities include assisting with the planning and organisation of development trials, sourcing raw materials. The role also involves conducting compatibility trials, troubleshooting, and interpreting and reporting results to contribute to the creation of new products across a range of human and animal health areas.
As a Product Development Operative, you will be part of the Technical & Development team, helping to bring new formulations to life through the effective support of product trials and the preparation for their successful launch.
Your Responsibilities- Coordinate key activities required for the successful launch of business ready solutions, both for human and animal health areas.
- Maintain adequate project records for all innovation and business ready solution projects.
- Plan, execute, and supervise trials (as appropriate) utilising contract manufacturers, benchtop equipment, and advanced equipment in the dedicated development suite to support new product innovations.
- Provide technical know-how for the formulation of Pet dietary supplements to support new developments in B2B2C and B2C in alignment with Senior Manager for CD&D H&W B2C.
- Support the setup of new products with Contract Manufacturers.
- Work with the Development Scientists to define and establish manufacturing parameters for novel formulations in collaboration with the development team, ensuring scalability and consistency.
- Interpret, follow, and enforce manufacturing and experimental instructions; utilise the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for all relevant documentation, scheduling, and tracking.
- Operate all laboratory and test equipment safely, fully aware of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) status of materials, and adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Undertake required training in laboratory procedures, safety, and equipment operation to maintain professional competence.
- A good level of IT knowledge is essential to operate our ERP system and to efficiently present product development reports.
- An aptitude for problem solving is essential along with self-motivation and initiative.
- Degree in physical / material sciences, chemistry or equivalent highly desirable and understanding of microbiology would be very useful.
- Experience in project management is essential.
- Experience with Animal Feeds is essential.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers is ideal.
- Familiarity working with powder products such as capsules, tablets, stick packs is ideal.
- Work experience within an animal feed or nutraceutical industry development environment is advantageous.
