Job Summary
The Teacher Aide I supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, faith-centered, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children in the Early Childhood Learning Center. The aide assists with classroom activities, supervision, daily routines, and implementation of educational and Catholic values-based programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities.
- Supervise children during classroom, playground, lunch, rest, and transition times.
- Help prepare classroom materials, learning centers, and instructional resources.
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development.
- Reinforce positive behavior and classroom expectations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Assist with toileting, handwashing, meals, and other personal care needs as appropriate.
- Participate in faith-based activities, prayer, and religious celebrations consistent with Catholic teachings.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with staff, parents, and children.
- Observe and report student concerns, incidents, or developmental issues to the Lead Teacher or Director.
- Follow all diocesan, state licensing, and safety regulations.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or ECLC Director.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Coursework or experience in early childhood education preferred.
- Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work effectively with young children.
- Basic understanding of child development and classroom management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Supportive of the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
