St Joseph Catholic Church, Manchester is seeking a faith-filled, energetic, and highly organized individual to serve as Summer Camp Director. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading a summer camp program that provides children with a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching experience. The Summer Camp Director works collaboratively with parish/school leadership, staff, and volunteers to ensure the program reflects the mission and values of Catholic education while fostering fun, growth, and community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and implement a fun, faith-based, and age-appropriate summer camp program rooted in Catholic values.
  • Oversee daily camp operations, including scheduling, activity planning, and supervision of campers.
  • Recruit, train, lead, and support camp staff, aides, and volunteers, modeling positive and respectful leadership.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, staff, and parish/school leadership.
  • Monitor camper behavior and ensure consistent enforcement of safety guidelines and behaviour expectations.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents, following established procedures and reporting as required.
  • Coordinate camp logistics such as schedules, field trips, supplies, and materials.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and faith-centered environment consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church.

Job Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic preferred and committed to the values of Catholic education.
  • Prior experience in education, camp leadership, or youth ministry strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a co-director and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-energy environments.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must complete and maintain compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program, including Protecting God’s Children training and background screening.
