Job Summary
Ascension Catholic Church, Chesterfield is seeking a Primary Elementary Teacher that is responsible for creating a nurturing, Christ-centered learning environment for young learners that supports their spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development. This teacher will provide developmentally appropriate instruction that builds foundational skills, integrates Catholic values across the curriculum, and supports the mission and vision of the school in alignment with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).
Job Responsibilities
- Faith Formation and Integration
- Model and actively promote Catholic values and teachings in daily interactions.
- Integrate faith-based principles into classroom instruction and activities in age-appropriate ways.
- Foster a caring, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment grounded in Catholic teachings.
- Lead and participate in prayer, liturgies, religious celebrations, and faith-based activities.
- Instructional Excellence
- Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum guidelines, state standards, and NSBECS.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including differentiated instruction and hands-on learning.
- Build strong foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.
- Incorporate technology and educational resources to enhance learning and engagement.
- Student Development
- Support the spiritual, academic, and social-emotional growth of primary-aged students.
- Create a structured, positive classroom environment with clear expectations for behavior and learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching credential or certification appropriate for elementary or primary education.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Strong knowledge of Catholic teachings and a commitment to Catholic education.
- Experience teaching primary or elementary students, preferably in a Catholic school setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively use educational technology to support instruction.
