Mission: Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home, education, and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children.
Summary: The Shelter Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operation of the shelter environment. Observe all agency policies and procedures and monitor implementation of procedures by direct care staff within a trauma‑informed lens.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision to assigned shift managers.
- Provide feedback, evaluation, motivation and direction to staff.
- Acts as role model for professional behaviours, attitudes, social skills and self‑care.
- Ensure shift schedules and staff assignments are meeting ratio, appointments and planned activities at least 24 hours in advance.
- Schedule and conduct 1:1 meetings on a monthly basis with direct reports.
- Must be available to come in on weekend or after hours based on agency’s needs.
- Deliver client services and all daily interactions within the Sanctuary Model framework.
- Facilitate monthly team meetings to include team‑building activities.
- First point of contact in responding to ORR placement requests.
- Responsible for updating the bed capacity tool on UC Portal on a daily basis.
- Responsible for recruiting qualified candidates and ensuring on‑the‑job training is completed timely.
- Responsible for maintaining direct reports annual training progress to ensure compliance.
- Ensure the safety of residents and coworkers by following compliance with State licensing and contract standards of regulating/accrediting bodies.
- Report all serious incidents and daily activities to the Assistant Program Director and Program Director within 30 minutes of incidents occurring.
- Monitor the proper dispensing of medications, verifying medication on all shifts.
- Conduct walkthrough of grounds, Cottage A, B, and C common areas, resident’s rooms, and pantry, utility closets to ensure cleanliness, organization and safety is being met.
- Ensures non‑compliant or safety hazards are immediately corrected.
- Maintain client and employee confidentiality using discretion and professional judgement.
- Responsible for inputting, converting and entering receipts using the database on a monthly basis.
- Review treatment, support and safety plans and ensure staff is informed.
- Follow up in verbal and written communication to ensure staff assigned completes actions.
- Maintain monthly inventory for food, household items, and supplies.
- Ensure orders are submitted to Resource Coordinator timely to allow fulfillment of order at least 3 days in advance.
- Review and complete Extended Reach logs on a weekly basis, ensure all logs are filed.
- Must ensure the completion of all required professional development assignments in a timely manner for their direct reports (this one is for supervisory positions only).
- Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner.
- Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well‑being of self, others.
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
- Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
- Every employee is required to take a solution‑oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
- As a Seton Home employee, attendance and successful completion of a 10‑day New Employee Orientation is mandated for the position. The inability to meet this requirement will conclude employment with the Agency.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises Residential Shift Team Lead and provides verbal and written feedback for the purpose of staff development and/or disciplinary actions.
- Ensures staff use appropriate trauma informed practices, develop appropriate relationships with clients, maintain boundaries and ensure consequences are fair, firm and consistent.
- The shelter supervisor is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out responsibilities assigned as long as such action does not deviate from established organizational policies and is consistent with program guidelines and sound professional judgement.
Critical Action Items:
- The Shelter Supervisor under the general direction of the Program Director (or designee), assists the Program Director in establishing and directing overall operation of facility’s programs which promote best practices and facilitate the optimum delivery of quality social services to residents.
- This position is also responsible for maintaining adequate staffing levels at the facility to ensure each child’s physical, social, emotional, educational, and recreational needs are met.
- At Seton Home’s sole discretion, and with or without notice, Seton Home may require employees to alter their work schedules to fulfill job responsibilities or handle work situations of an emergency nature.
- Likewise, at Seton Home’s sole discretion, and with written approval of the Department Head of Human Resources and Executive Director, employees may arrange an alternate or flexible work schedule, provided Seton Home needs can be fully met under such an arrangement.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred;
- Experience: Minimum of 2‑year management and/or supervisory experience; Sanctuary Model experience preferred;
- License and Credentials: Reliable transportation; Valid driver license; Valid vehicle insurance; Must provide immunization/shot records; Submit to a state and federal background check, Child abuse and neglect registry check, and Tuberculosis screening; Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities. Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine‑preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish with regards to reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the spoken language.
- Minimum of 2‑year management and/or supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of TDFPS Minimum Standards, and Office of Refugee Resettlement‑Division of Unaccompanied Children's Services National Care Standards.
- Experience with computer software, familiarity with or ability to utilize Extended Reach and MS Office (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive).
- A solid grasp of progressive management strategies.
- Possess knowledge and proficiency in Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior techniques.
- Training and/or experience in direct service delivery, supervisory management skills.
- Ensure Shift Managers have completed supervisory TPCN tasks are completed daily.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self‑motivated, work well independently and on a team.
- Must have good written and verbal skills.
- Must have good critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to multi‑task.

- Travel requirements for the position includes 10% local and 10% overnight.
