Job Description:
Summary: The Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding, inspiring, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The Teacher is responsible to the principal for implementing policies of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio related to the school, classroom, students, and parents.
Position Responsibilities:
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
- Adheres to safety training and protocols daily and ensures safety and well-being of self and others
- Protects confidentiality of organizational information, including client and donor data, investigations, and financial information
- Follows the Code of Conduct and Faith and Moral Policy
- Approaches interactions and tasks with a solution-oriented mindset, promoting collaboration and commitment to the organization’s Mission and Vision
- Performs other duties as assigned
Instructional Strategies:
- Develops and implements lesson plans aligned with curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation
- Prepares lessons accommodating different student learning styles
- Delivers subject matter according to established guidelines
- Uses appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials based on student needs
- Conducts assessments of student learning styles and uses results for planning
- Collaborates with staff to determine instructional goals and methods
- Supervises teacher aides and volunteers
- Integrates technology to enhance teaching and learning
Student Growth and Development:
- Assists students in analyzing and improving study habits
- Performs ongoing assessment of student achievement
- Handles extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsors approved outside activities
- Serves as a positive role model and supports Catholic education mission
Classroom Management and Organization:
- Creates a conducive learning environment suitable for students’ physical, social, and emotional development
- Manages student behavior according to policies
- Ensures safety of students, equipment, and facilities
- Assists in selecting instructional materials
Communication:
- Maintains open communication with parents, students, and staff
- Maintains professional relationships with colleagues and community members
- Communicates effectively and clearly
Professional Growth and Development:
- Participates in staff development activities
- Complies with regulations and policies for teachers
- Maintains records and reports
- Attends faculty meetings and serves on committees

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 12 credit hours in education courses or a valid state certificate as per Texas Catholic Conference standards
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet use, and multimedia presentations
- Demonstrated competency in the subject area(s)
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of the subject and general curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, able to work independently and in teams
- Good written and verbal skills
- May require working some weekends and evenings
- Must work a full school day
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
