Requirements

  • BSc or MSc degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience delivering functioning commercial embedded software.
  • Excellent C/C++ skills and familiarity with Python and object-oriented programming.
  • Understanding of Linux and kernel programming, including device trees, as well as interfaces such as SPI, UART, CAN, and USB.
  • Proficiency developing for bare metal and embedded devices such as STM32, ARM Cortex-M0, and RTOS environments.
  • Ability to travel for events and field tests in the UK and abroad up to 10% of the time.
  • Experience or understanding of camera modules, sensors, ISPs, modern embedded wireless technologies, battery technologies, control theory, and deploying software on Nvidia Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or ARM devices.
  • Experience in embedded software optimization, power profiling and optimization, the Drone/UAS space, UAVs or robots, rapid hardware prototyping, PCB design and manufacture, and 3D modelling or manufacture.

Responsibilities

  • Capture requirements, design, build, and test software for small-volume, fully functioning edge compute devices.
  • Develop and integrate software or firmware for drivers, boot logic, board bring-up and testing, control and state machines, interfaces, deep learning inference, cameras and ISPs, wireless mesh and IoT communications, battery power monitoring, and GPS/GNSS positioning.
  • Support development teams with rapid prototyping of PCBs.
  • Liaise with other development teams to integrate various components.
  • Research and select new microcontrollers and embedded systems to prototype new products or features.
  • Test software and devices in real-world scenarios, including radio range testing, solar charging efficiency measurements, and deep learning model accuracy testing.
