Senior Paleoenvironmental and Geoarchaeologist | Sheffield & Bakewell | Full-time | Occasional fieldwork and flexibility for home working | £36,620 – £42,400 depending on experience\\n\\nArchaeological Research Services Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geoarchaeologist and Paleoenvironmental Officer to join our dynamic team. This is a rare opportunity to work with a leading archaeological company on a wide range of innovative and cutting-edge projects across the UK, and potentially beyond.\\n\\nBased within our Specialist Services Division, the role will involve leading a small team of experts in geoarchaeology and paleoenvironmental studies.\\n\\nIf you have substantial experience in the field, a passion for landscape reconstruction, and are looking to take the next step in your career, we want to hear from you!\\n\\nAre you the right person for the job?\\n\\nSignificant experience in geoarchaeology and/or paleoenvironmental reconstruction, with a strong portfolio of completed projects\\nProven ability in geoarchaeological mapping, sediment coring, and analysis, along with proficiency in one or more paleoenvironmental proxies\\nStrong project management skills, including experience in supervising teams and liaising with clients and curators\\nExperience in producing high-quality reports and publications\\nAdvanced IT skills, with ideal proficiency in GIS, RockWorks, and other relevant software\\nExcellent written English and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, detailed reports and publications\\nA full driving license and the ability to drive company vehicles as required\\nExperience in managing health and safety responsibilities on-site and in the office\\nA passion for developing and mentoring junior staff, fostering their growth in the field\\nStrong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively\\nWhat will your role look like?\\n\\nLead and manage a small team within the Specialist Services Division, contributing to the growth of the division and promoting innovative data-sharing and integration\\nOversee geoarchaeological mapping, sediment coring, analysis, and characterisation, including one or more specialized techniques such as pollen analysis, botanical macrofossil analysis, and soil micromorphology\\nSupport the Landscape Prospection Service, where you’ll integrate geoarchaeological, geophysical, geochemical, and remote sensing data to assess and understand landscapes\\nManage client relationships, liaising with clients and planning archaeologists while ensuring projects meet their deadlines and objectives\\nUndertake fieldwork, including survey, sediment sampling, and the completion of associated post-excavation work, such as archiving and reporting\\nPrepare high-quality reports for commercial and research-based archaeological projects, as well as contribute to peer-reviewed publications where appropriate\\nSupervise and mentor junior team members, supporting their development through training, feedback, and best practices\\nMaintain and ensure the proper use of lab equipment and field resources\\nEnsure compliance with health and safety policies and contribute to risk assessments as required\\nParticipate in staff training, development, and team engagement initiatives, fostering a positive and productive work environment\\nTake an active role in business development, including networking, inputting to new projects, and identifying commercial opportunities\\nDrive company vehicles when required and maintain their roadworthiness\\nEnsure that all projects are completed to high standards of quality and within agreed timelines and budgets\\nAny other duties that may be reasonably allocated from time to time\\nWhat can you expect in return?\\n\\nStrong, positive corporate culture\\nCompetitive salary\\nCommitment to training and career progression\\nMembership of the Company’s health cash plan which includes a range of health services\\nDiscounts and rewards on health, fitness and entertainment\\nAttractive pension contribution\\nLife assurance cover\\n28 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays)\\nAdditional annual leave accrued linked to the length of service\\nAccommodation provided for away work with subsistence\\nFull personal protective equipment and Company branded attire\\n100% of CIfA subscription fees\\nWhat’s next?
