Reporting to: Finance Director

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 Plus Bonus and Benefits

The Role

As Senior Finance Manager, you will act as the right hand to the Finance Director, taking ownership of day‑to‑day financial leadership while shaping operational and commercial decision‑making across the group. This is a role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, leading people with confidence, and partnering with non‑finance colleagues to drive performance. You’ll lead a well‑established team, strengthen controls, elevate reporting quality, and ensure the business has the financial insight it needs to grow sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial & Operational Strategy: Partner with the Finance Director to shape and execute financial and operational plan.
  • Standard Costing Implementation: Lead the rollout and embedding of a robust standard costing model.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a high‑performing finance team.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee stock, WIP, and inventory accuracy across the group.
  • Management Accounts Delivery: Produce accurate monthly accounts by segment, including group consolidations and KPI packs for Board, Bank, and external stakeholders.
  • Month‑End & Year‑End Close: Lead close processes and manage bank audit requirements.
  • Financial Controls: Enhance controls and ensure financial integrity across multiple entities.
  • Financial Modelling: Build models and frameworks to support operational decision‑making.
  • HMRC Compliance: Ensure compliance across excise, VAT, duty, and payroll tax.
  • Process Improvement: Drive efficiency, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Cost & Capex Analysis: Manage cost allocations, cost analysis, Capex reporting, and cashflow forecasting.
  • Working Capital Insight: Provide weekly insight into cashflow, accrued revenue, and debtors.
  • External Audit: Act as key finance lead for external auditors.
  • Business Partnering: Work closely with Commercial and Ops teams to deliver insight, challenge, and commercial value.

Requirements

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a track record of leading teams and delivering high‑quality financial outputs in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment. You’ll combine technical strength with commercial instinct — able to translate numbers into meaningful action for non‑finance colleagues. You’ll thrive here if you are:

  • A hands‑on leader who enjoys developing people.
  • Commercially minded with a solutions‑focused approach.
  • Confident influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Strong in process, controls, and operational finance.
  • Comfortable balancing detail with strategic thinking.

What This Role Offers

  • Direct partnership with an experienced Finance Director.
  • Influence across operations, commercial, and group leadership.
  • A role with genuine breadth, autonomy, and impact.
  • The opportunity to shape processes, systems, and team capability.
  • A stable, growing, and forward‑thinking business environment.
