A privately owned and rapidly growing manufacturing and logistics group is seeking an experienced, hands-on Finance Manager to lead the finance function across multiple entities. This is a high-impact role suited to someone organised, commercially focused, and confident operating in a fast-paced, operationally complex environment.

About the Role

You will take full ownership of day-to-day finance operations, reporting, controls, and process improvement across a small but expanding group of companies. Managing a small finance team, you will ensure accurate financial reporting and strengthen internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Accounting
    • Support and oversee cost accounting including COGS, overheads, labour costs, and variances.
    • Analyse scrap rates, operational efficiency, stock movements, and cost-saving opportunities.
    • Support stock takes and reconcile results to financial records.
    • Partner with production and warehouse teams to maintain accurate operational data.
  • Finance Operations & Reporting
    • Lead day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities.
    • Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
    • Oversee balance sheet integrity, reconciliations, and financial controls.
    • Manage payroll, pensions, and statutory submissions.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team.
  • Systems & Process Improvement
    • Enhance internal controls and streamline financial processes.
    • Drive improvements in ERP usage.
    • Strengthen data accuracy and reporting efficiency.
  • Commercial Insight
    • Provide financial oversight across logistics operations including driver costs, subcontractors, fleet/fuel usage, and route profitability.
    • Produce insight on utilisation, pallet movements, customer margins, and operational efficiency.
    • Support logistics KPIs, cost control, and commercial decision-making.
  • Business Partnering
    • Act as a key business partner to operational and commercial leaders.
    • Support strategic decision-making across the group.

Requirements

The Ideal Person

  • Full/part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Strong background in manufacturing finance (essential).
  • Experience supporting logistics operations (advantageous).
  • Excellent ERP skills.
  • Confident communicator at all levels.
  • Hands-on, organised, commercially minded, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
