The Finance Manager will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial oversight, supporting client engagements, and strengthening internal financial governance. This role is ideal for an ACA-qualified auditor with a strong grounding in public sector audit, looking to step into a finance leadership position within a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, insight, and timely delivery.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, providing clear commentary and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support audit-related engagements, bringing specialist knowledge of public sector audit frameworks, compliance requirements, and reporting standards.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and risk management practices across the firm.
- Partner with operational and client-facing teams to provide financial insight that supports commercial decision-making.
- Manage cashflow, working capital, and financial performance metrics, ensuring robust financial discipline.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors.
- Contribute to pricing models, bids, and proposals for new client work.
- Mentor junior finance staff and support their professional development.
Requirements
- ACA qualified (ICAEW) with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Strong background in Audit, ideally gained within a reputable accountancy or professional services firm.
- Demonstrable experience working on public sector audit engagements, with a solid understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., NAO, PSAA, CIPFA).
- Proven ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP, IFRS desirable).
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
