Role Summary & Purpose

The Non-Natural Catastrophe team in Exposure Management is responsible for key classes in Arch, including Terrorism, Contingency, Cyber, and Liability. We ensure data is entered accurately into our systems and produce key business reports, and analyse movements monthly, as well as providing quote analysis to underwriters before risks are written. This role is responsible for assisting the Non-Natural Catastrophe team with the processing and smooth-running of these classes.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Communicate with underwriters to ensure the smooth operation of Exposure Management services within the business
  • Communicate with the outsource team to answer queries and ensure the timely and accurate capture of risks into our systems
  • Augment data where the quality is poor to improve the accuracy of our key metrics
  • Maintain the accuracy of the exposure database
  • Run reports for pre and post-bind accounts, and assist with portfolio analysis
  • Assist with the development of key class processes and analytics
  • Work with other members of Exposure Management to ensure cross-class collaboration
  • Workflow monitoring where required
  • Assisting other members of the Exposure Management team if required

  • Experience using tools (e.g. Excel) to process large volumes of data and check for errors and ensure data integrity
  • Advantageous to have experience using programming languages (e.g. R, VBA, C#) or scripting languages (e.g. SQL)
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others both internally and externally

Qualifications/Experience

  • Sound judgment, good organisation and administrational skills and adaptability to work using your own initiative
  • Strong interest in understanding complex man-made risk
  • Curiosity about data, patterns with a natural inclination to explore how different scenarios could impact portfolios
  • Engagement with geopolitical, socio economic, and technological trends, and enthusiasm for staying informed about global events that may shape non-natural catastrophe exposure
  • Interest in translating analytical outputs into actionable insights and communicating with key stakeholders
  • Motivation to continuously learn, including new tools, analytical techniques, and developments in the non-natural catastrophe risk landscape
  • No prior experience in insurance or Exposure Management is required
