About the team and the role

Strategic Analytics (SA) is a growing team at Arch that develops innovative analytics, algorithms and AI tools to improve profitability and growth as well as providing deep analytical insight to drive decision making. To be successful, we need to develop powerful AI tools that give Arch a unique, competitive advantage.

As AVP, Automation & AI Delivery you will play a crucial role, working with the Head of Automation & AI, in developing and overseeing Arch International’s AI capabilities. You will work closely with senior stakeholders in the digital function, business unit teams and within the wider strategic analytics team to design, build and monitor AI tools which become a critical part of Arch Insurance’s international business. You will work with and direct other data scientists and engineers to build AI tools which combine creativity, technical rigour and business context.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of human centric AI tools from design through build, test, deployment, supported by relevant technical delivery resources within the SA team, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and supportable.
  • Establish and evangelize the use of automation and AI, including addressing potential challenges preventing adoption.
  • Maintain and evolve a prioritised pipeline of automation and AI opportunities, identifying high-impact use cases and overseeing a strong, value-based prioritisation.
  • Oversee structured discovery with stakeholders to define problem statements, success metrics and determine feasibility.
  • Own, Track and report on delivery scope, progress, risks and dependencies.
  • Ensure delivery standards for requirements, documentation, testing, releases, monitoring and incident management are met.
  • Implement feedback loops and metrics to track and report on adoption, trust, and impact to SA leadership and senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to scale high-impact AI tools developed by individuals into robust, secure and supported enterprise AI tools.
  • Support training efforts and act as an AI SME supporting business stakeholders with personal automation and AI use cases.
  • Ensure solutions comply with Arch policies, standards and approvals (permitted use, privacy, security, model governance and third-party risk).

Role Requirements & Skills

  • Highly organised with strong programme/project management skills; able to manage multiple initiatives concurrently and deliver results.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to build trusting relationships and drive consensus across functions and levels of seniority.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership and translating between business and technical audiences.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and breaking complex problems into actionable delivery plans.
  • Strong delivery mindset with a focus on measurable outcomes, adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of automation and AI technologies (e.g., individual and multi-agent AI solutions, GenAI, IDP RPA, workflow automation).
  • Sound understanding of risk and controls considerations for automation/AI in a regulated environment (data privacy, security, model governance, third-party risk).
  • Exceptional teamwork skills required to play a key role in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to collaborate and build trusting relationships with business partners.
  • Natural curiosity to understand the world around you and question as needed.
  • Comfortable handling ambiguous concepts and breaking down complex problems into manageable pieces.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or similar quantitative fields; or significant evidence of continuous professional development in automation or AI.

Experience

  • Significant experience delivering business process improvement, automation and/or AI solutions—preferably within commercial insurance (specialty, London Market and/or general insurance) including agentic AI solutions.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver technology solutions (in-house and/or vendor-led), including managing offshore resources.
  • Experience defining technology and data requirements to enhance business processes and optimise operational outcomes.
  • Track record of taking solutions into production with appropriate monitoring, support and business adoption.
  • Exposure to product operating models (backlog, discovery-to-delivery, value tracking) is beneficial.
  • Experience working closely with business stakeholders, such as underwriting.
