The Resilience team is recruiting for a Project Controls Consultant, in a developing role, to join us and provide support and guidance for our clients and internal teams.

As a Project Controls Consultant in Resilience you should have the capability and confidence to add value at all stages of a project or programme lifecycle – from front-end strategic planning to detailed development and control.
Our projects range from nationally significant infrastructure schemes to mass volume utility works. The role of the Project Controls Consultant is to steer project teams through the planning and execution phases by applying best practice principles, communicating effectively and collaborating.
Role AccountabilitiesAs a Junior Project Controls Consultant, you will receive comprehensive training from Arcadis, gaining expertise in all aspects of project controls. You will collaborate closely with a wider team, contributing to a dynamic and supportive work environment. This role is office-based in either Manchester, Warrington, or Newcastle Upon Tyne, with an expectation of three days per week dedicated to in-office collaboration.
Arcadis is committed to providing you with the necessary training and skill development to excel in this position. You will be supported by a team of Senior Project Controls Professionals to develop your skills across the full spectrum of project controls disciplines to deliver:
- Effective support to the delivery of complex energy programmes across the full project lifecycle - from initiation through to close-out - by applying core project controls principles.
- Development and maintenance of structured, resource-loaded project schedules, progressing from high-level activity networks to detailed working plans.
- Contribution to the design and implementation of project control systems, standard operating procedures, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Exposure to governance and assurance frameworks, including stage gate reviews, compliance assessments, and audit support.
- Assistance in managing project information within Common Data Environments (CDEs), ensuring data integrity and supporting digital handover.
- Participation in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation planning, including the creation of risk registers and support for QSRA/QCRA modelling.
- Support for cost control activities, including budget tracking, variance analysis, and integration of cost data with schedule and risk metrics.
- Development of skills in delay analysis techniques, such as time impact assessments and schedule forensics.
- Engagement in collaborative planning sessions and workshops to align teams on milestones, constraints, and delivery strategies.
- Contribution to portfolio-level oversight through integrated reporting, KPI tracking, and dashboard development.
- Use of advanced tools such as 4D modelling, predictive analytics, and performance dashboards to support project decision-making.
- Delivery of clear, concise, and actionable insights to project teams and stakeholders, enabling informed decisions and proactive risk management.
- Proactive collaboration across disciplines to identify and resolve issues, fostering team success and alignment.
- Management of schedule change control processes, including documentation of change history and securing appropriate business authorisations.
- Development of strong working relationships with internal and client stakeholders at all levels, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
Educated to degree level/HND, or equivalent experience. Ability to work on tasks unsupervised whilst applying sound judgement to effectively collaborate and communicate with others. Confidence and acumen when speaking to project teams, clients and stakeholders. Ability to facilitate discussions between different disciplines, teams and parties. Understanding and experience of the principles of project/programme management, design, engineering and construction (desirable but not essential). Strong IT Skills, with respect to Excel and Office 365.
