Senior Quantity Surveyor – Water Sector

Role Description
We are seeking Senior Quantity Surveyors to join our Cost & Commercial Management team, supporting growth within our resilience business for a global client in the Water Sector. You will work on a variety of water and utilities projects and programmes across the Reading and London area, delivering transformational outcomes for multiple clients and contributing to a sustainable tomorrow.
Lead and manage cost management assignments, ensuring standards of delivery meet defined objectives.
Work with the Commission Lead to take ownership of projects and administer NEC contracts, including post‑contract administration, change assessment, and payments.
Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
Provide accurate cost monitoring, forecasting and forecasting within established financial systems.
Proactively monitor and manage cost variance and contract cash flow to minimise cost and scope changes.
Collaborate with client and commercial teams on project deliverables, KPIs, programme performance, cost control and value engineering.
Advise on risk and value management, and attend required meetings.
Manage relationships and collaborate with clients and external stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and create new business opportunities.
Analyse data and documents, identify key themes and trends, and provide advice and recommendations to support decision‑making.
Lead people and commissions as needed.
Ensure final accounts are audited, negotiated and agreed.
Other Requirements
Hybrid working with client travel between London and Reading.
Qualifications & Experience
Demonstrate strong self‑management and prioritisation skills, working well under pressure.
Good knowledge of specialised fields, including construction processes and cost and commercial management in a consultancy setting.
Experience with NEC contracts.
Manage more junior staff on projects ranging from ÂŁ5m to ÂŁ40m.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and third parties.
Strong knowledge of construction industry technical matters such as procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
Experience in coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues, demonstrating emerging leadership skills.
Capable of taking a project through from inception to completion.
Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
Ideally appropriate professional body membership, MRICS, or working towards chartership.
