Overview
As a Project Architect in Arcadis’ Education team, you will lead day-to-day delivery of education projects, guiding design through all RIBA stages.
You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage programmes, budgets and resources, and ensure technical delivery meets high standards.
You’ll oversee BIM/digital design coordination and process planning permissions and statutory approvals.
Your role combines design excellence with stakeholder engagement to achieve successful client outcomes, contributing to Arcadis’ mission of sustainable, high-quality built environments.
This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role for an experienced architect who shapes education projects at scale.
Responsibilities
- Act as Project Architect and lead day-to-day delivery of education projects across all RIBA stages
- Manage project programmes, deliverables, resources, budgets and performance to meet objectives and deadlines
- Coordinate and oversee design information across multidisciplinary consultant teams
- Prepare, review and present design proposals, technical reports, presentations and project documentation
- Lead BIM and digital design coordination to ensure integrated project outputs
- Manage planning applications, Building Regulations submissions and other statutory approvals
- Produce and oversee detailed technical design packages for tender, construction and delivery
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Building Safety Act and education-sector standards
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders, leading workshops and design presentations
- Coordinate and mentor project teams, support junior staff development, contribute to technical reviews and business development
- Key requirements
- ARB-registered Architect with RIBA Chartered Membership (or working towards chartered status)
- Significant post-qualification experience in a UK architectural practice
- Proven experience leading projects as a Job Runner
- Experience delivering education-sector projects (schools, colleges, universities)
- Strong knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work across all stages
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and managing stakeholders
- Strong technical design, detailing and project delivery capabilities
- Proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows, including digital design coordination
- Excellent communication, presentation and client relationship skills
- Understanding of Df E-funded projects, education-sector design guidance, Building Safety Act requirements, MMC, sustainability and low-carbon design principles
