Overview
In this role, you will lead post-contract commercial management for a major hyperscale data centre programme. You’ll work within the Cost & Commercial Management team to guide GMP development, contract administration and final accounts, coordinating with contractors and client stakeholders. Your analyses will drive cost control, risk management and informed decision-making across large capital packages. This is a hands-on, site-based role that shapes financial outcomes and delivers value for complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Support the Commercial Director in managing major capital work packages from procurement to final account
- Lead, or support, GMP development and conversion to agreed contract sums
- Manage commercial aspects of packages (MEP, enabling works, civils, piling, structures, steel, architectural, CSA)
- Assist in finalising accounts with contractors and supply chain partners
- Administer contracts (FIDIC-based processes) and governance; prepare valuations, payments, and change control
- Contribute to cost reports, forecasts, CVRs and dashboards; review tender analyses
- Monitor cost performance within financial systems and budgets; flag variances
- Support commercial risk management and escalation of issues to senior stakeholders
- Collaborate with design, PMO, construction, procurement and commissioning teams
- Mentor junior colleagues and share knowledge to improve team capability
Key requirements
- Experience in cost and commercial management on complex construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong post-contract experience including change control, valuations, forecasting and final accounts
- Experience supporting commercial delivery across major work packages on technically complex projects
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants and client stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide commercial insight
