As a Cost Manager within our Education sector team at Arcadis, you will deliver high-quality cost and commercial management services to a range of education clients, including schools, colleges, universities, and education trusts. You will play a key role in managing project costs, ensuring value for money, and supporting the delivery of inspiring, sustainable learning environments.
Role accountabilities:
- Deliver cost management services across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and cost planning through to final account.
- Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for educational building and refurbishment projects.
- Lead and support the procurement process, evaluating tenders and advising on contractor selection.
- Monitor project progress, track costs, and report on variances to ensure projects remain within budget.
- Provide advice on value engineering, risk management, and contractual matters.
- Prepare and present financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and recommendations to clients and project teams.
- Support the preparation and agreement of interim valuations and final accounts.
- Engage and collaborate with clients, design teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Promote best practice, innovation, and digital solutions in cost management.
- Mentor and support junior team members, sharing knowledge and expertise.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or a related field.
- Working towards or achieved MRICS (or equivalent professional qualification).
- Experience in cost management for education sector projects or similar technically complex buildings.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with relevant digital tools (e.g., CostX, Excel, BIM, Power BI).
- Understanding of UK construction contracts and procurement processes.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and delivering sustainable, high-quality outcomes.
