Arcadis is looking for an experienced Plant Fitter / Mechanic and Maintenance Engineer to join our Drilling and Remediation Team based out of Brockworth, Gloucester with work delivered supporting a wide range of client sites and sectors. The role will involve the inspection, maintenance, servicing and repair of a diverse fleet of plant and equipment, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of our projects. The successful candidate will work both in our workshops and on site, often independently, demonstrating a proactive and safety-focused approach. You will play a key role in ensuring our plant and equipment is maintained to the highest standards, minimising downtime and supporting project teams across the business. This is a mixed depot and field-based role and will involve some working away from base during the week, with accommodation and subsistence provided.

Role Accountabilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, servicing and repair of a wide range of drilling, ground investigation and remediation plant and equipment.
  • Support with the construction of remediation systems for the treatment of soil and groundwater.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare plant and equipment for deployment to site, ensuring compliance with statutory inspections, LOLER/PUWER requirements and company standards.
  • Undertake breakdown repairs on site and in the workshop, minimising disruption to operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing and repairs, using digital systems where required.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with Arcadis’ Health, Safety and Environmental expectations.
  • Identify defects, improvement opportunities and maintenance trends, providing feedback to supervisors and managers.
  • Support plant mobilisation and demobilisation activities, including loading/unloading and basic commissioning checks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment in workshops and on site.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure plant availability and performance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Mechanic, or similar role within construction, infrastructure or related sectors.
  • Relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience maintaining a variety of plant such as drilling machinery, compressors, generators and ancillary equipment.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • CSCS card or equivalent safety certification.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation and organisation.
  • Willingness to work away from base location as required.
