As a Risk Manager you will be working within Arcadis’ Energy Networks & Renewables team, focusing on key renewable energy projects across the transmission & distribution sectors. The role will lead the delivery of our Risk Management capability across major projects or portfolios, with a strong emphasis on QSRA / QCRA work. You will ensure high‑quality delivery, develop team capability, and support client account growth.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with and provide support to our Project and Programme Management UK teams in development of our risk management service.
- Work with project teams to implement effective risk management processes, procedures and best practice into their projects.
- Develop and deliver risk management consultancy services to a wide range of major Clients.
- Act as a technical expert within Resilience, providing subject matter input on pursuits and to project team members in line with project or programme objectives.
Role Accountabilities
- Deliver risk management services to clients in compliance with client governance, processes and objectives.
- Undertake day‑to‑day risk management activities including identification, assessment, management, review and reporting of risks and opportunities.
- Produce periodic risk reporting which may include profiled risk expenditure, impacted risk / contingency drawdown and risk exposure changes.
- Develop Quantitative Risk Analysis including Cost, Schedule and integrated Cost and Schedule analyses, to enable robust forecasting and tracking of risk exposure.
- Use knowledge and experience to ensure identification and management of all significant risks to achievement of project objectives.
- Deliver discrete risk interventions and embedded risk management services.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Desire to work towards relevant professional certification, such as APM Risk Certificate, IRM Certificate.
- Experienced in developing and improving risk management services and capabilities.
- Experience in the regulated environments, with a particular focus on Energy.
- Experience in the application of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) techniques and tools, for example: @Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis (previously Pertmaster), Safran including the analysis of complex logic‑linked cost‑loaded schedules.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management tools, for example, Active Risk Manager (ARM), Predict! and Xactium.
- Understanding of construction contracts and the relationship between risk management and controls/management functions including: project management, change control, planning & scheduling, cost & commercial management and reporting.
- Evidence of previous experience in definition and delivery of risk management plans within projects.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Collaborative working style and consulting behaviours.
- A logical approach and ability to think through complex issues to co‑ordinate multi‑faced aspects of projects.
- Self‑motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently.
Desirable
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. APM, IRM).
- Risk Management qualification, for example IRM International Certificate, APM Risk Certificate, or Axelos M_o_R.
- An understanding of planning techniques and tools, including P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Awareness of Value Management processes and techniques.
- Experience delivering risk management at Programme or Strategic levels.
- Experience in application of a variety of contract forms across major projects.
- Experience of applying risk management at a project, portfolio and programme level.
