We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our well‑established Education Building Surveying team covering the Leeds area. You’ll work with a variety of education clients across the UK, including universities, schools, trusts and government, delivering capital works and conducting condition surveys. We’re seeking someone with strong technical expertise and a broad building surveying background. The role offers a diverse and varied workload, often requiring you to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You’ll focus on high‑quality service delivery, working collaboratively within larger teams to achieve outstanding client outcomes. Confidence in direct client engagement is essential. Effective time management is key, ensuring you meet deadlines and align your efforts with cost forecasts to maintain project profitability.
Role accountabilities:
- The primary focus of this role is the successful delivery of capital works on educational assets.
- You will take on significant responsibility and accountability, with the opportunity to develop both managerial and technical skills, and advance your career within our dynamic and growing specialist team.
- Key responsibilities include managing and delivering professional consultancy commissions, such as condition surveys and, occasionally, dilapidations.
- You will ensure effective communication throughout each project, making certain that all necessary information is available for successful delivery.
- Working closely with Project Managers and Team Leaders, you will help maintain efficient financial control and provide a cost‑effective service.
- You will keep the Sector Director regularly informed of contract progress with clear, quantified updates.
- Additionally, you will support the development of junior building surveyors through mentoring and supervision.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent.
- Ideally MRICS qualified, or actively working towards chartership.
- Strong technical skills and experience across multiple disciplines.
- Broad, strategic thinker with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Skilled at managing project risk and maintaining high quality standards.
- Flexible and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Good understanding of the challenges faced by education clients.
- Knowledgeable in technical, legislative, and commercial aspects of building surveying.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, enabling strong client partnerships.
