b Overview /b p As Technical Director in Arcadis’ Water Engineering team, you will lead technical delivery and drive strategic growth across coast and river projects. You’ll mentor a small team, embed safety and sustainability, and promote emerging technologies in multidisciplinary settings. You will shape major coastal, hydraulic, and asset-management work and act as a trusted advisor to clients. This role offers influence across UK and international projects and opportunities to lead bids and thought leadership. /p b Responsibilities /b ul li Serve as a trusted client advisor and drive technical excellence /li li Lead technical delivery across WME projects ensuring standards compliance /li li Mentor and develop team members, fostering innovation and learning /li li Promote and integrate emerging technologies into project delivery /li li Collaborate across disciplines and geographies for integrated solutions /li li Represent Arcadis through thought leadership and professional engagement /li li Embed health, safety, and sustainability in all project work /li li Manage a team of 3–5 staff including welfare and resourcing /li li Expand capabilities in coastal engineering, scour analysis, and hydraulics /li li Lead bid development and contribute to tendering (commercial and technical) /li li Maintain technical oversight with quality and financial accountability /li li Manage projects including planning, coordination, subcontractor management, and client communication /li li Oversee commercial aspects including contracts, invoicing, and client engagement /li li Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safety-first culture /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Strong technical background in coastal processes, scour assessment, and hydraulic design /li li Experience on major infrastructure projects in marine and river environments; dams and reservoirs experience advantageous /li li Proven ability to lead design, inspection, and asset management projects /li li Proven client engagement, proposal development, and commercial delivery experience /li li Experienced team leader and line manager /li li Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, Water Resources, or Engineering Hydrology /li li Chartered status with CIWEM or ICE /li li Membership of the DEFRA Panel of Reservoir Engineers is desirable /li /ul ul li Leadership and people management /li li Client engagement and communication /li li Collaboration across disciplines and geographies /li li Coastal processes /li li Scour assessment /li li Hydraulic design /li /ul
