As a Consultant Ecologist, you would be joining our team of over 50 ecologists with more than 30 years of experience undertaking ecological surveys and assessments, as well as the provision of advice on soil, land use, hydrological and sustainable drainage issues, arboriculture, ecosystem service, natural capital assessment, biodiversity strategies and metrics and cultural heritage. We have undertaken over 2,000 projects covering a wide range of environmental disciplines throughout the UK, in Europe and beyond, for public and private clients. As part of our Environmental team, you’ll help improve quality of life. With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise.
As a Consultant Ecologist you will be accountable for the coordination and completion of assigned tasks and projects within the Business Unit or project team. You will be engaged upon an extensive portfolio of ecology schemes for construction and development projects which includes both standalone ecology projects and work for our internal clients. You will gain experience on a wide and varied portfolio of projects to enhance your skills and test your technical knowledge. Responsibilities:
- Undertake and assist on ecological surveys
- Undertake the production of Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and assist with biodiversity strategies and other documents
- Undertake and assist with licence applications, including developing mitigation and monitoring
- Undertake/supervise mitigation and monitoring of licensed work and liaise with statutory authorities
- Participate in training with respect to best practice and survey standards
Qualifications:
- Membership of CIEEM
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to travel when necessary
