Arcadis is looking for a Civil Engineer with proven experience in design and delivery of civil engineering/urban development activities as part of building projects, including surface & foul drainage, utilities, ground/earthworks, and highways interfaces. The role supports delivery of Urban Development services within the Places Design Practice, collaborating across teams and global expertise. Experience in Industrial Manufacturing, Tech and Defence projects is welcomed.
Role accountabilities:
- Undertake civil engineering design for projects, contributing to sustainable development and applying Arcadis Health and Safety Principles during planning and delivery of work.
- Work in collaboration with other design disciplines, applying engineering solutions to ensure the integrity of the overall design.
- Agree and implement project approach for collaboration with global design colleagues.
- Prepare design solutions for various project stages, including drawing/BIM model production, reports, and specifications.
- Attend project meetings and check the work of other team members to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across design, environmental, and construction disciplines.
- Identify and implement specific engineering management arrangements to complement Arcadis Integrated Management System requirements.
- Prepare Designer Hazard Logs and communicate residual risks to the Principal Designer.
- Provide technical input to project Design Decision Logs and Project Assumptions registers.
- Contribute to resolution of technical issues on projects and provide guidance to other team members, including junior engineers, technicians, and apprentices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree qualified with Chartered or Incorporated status; candidates close to achieving chartered status will also be considered.
- Relevant experience in design and delivery of civil engineering/urban development activities as part of building projects, including surface water & foul water drainage, highways and utility design.
- Expertise in software design methods such as MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and integration with BIM models.
- Strong understanding of applicable design codes, standards and construction principles (e.g., SuDS, SfA, DMRB, Building Regulations).
- Maintain and extend a theoretical approach to technology application in engineering practice and use an evidence-based approach to problem-solving.
- Technically competent in fundamental design principles and able to apply manual calculation methods where software methods are not available.
