With the power of many curious minds, together we can continue to solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Arcadis is excited to be expanding its Nuclear team, specifically focusing on Civil and Defence Nuclear across the country. We are looking for talented Senior Project Managers/Associate Project Managers to develop and implement an integrated project delivery model, governance, management arrangements, and delivery plans. You will manage the successful delivery of all project activities within your delegated authority and report into the project governance structure. The main areas of scope will include managing nuclear power station delivery, enabling works, site characterisation, associated developments, and major permissions and consents. The Project Management team will also collaborate closely with all aspects of the Project Delivery such as the Commercial and Technical teams.

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership to major projects, ensuring their management from inception to completion. You will work with multiple stakeholders both internal and external to ensure the project is completed to the agreed scope, time, and budget, meeting the required nuclear industry quality standards, safely, and in line with the intended objectives and benefits. You could be part of establishing a major programme, offering you the opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a national infrastructure project. While this is a fast‑paced and exciting challenge, you should be comfortable with uncertainty, ambiguity, and change.

Role Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, defining scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk management strategies, while actively managing budgets and using forecasting techniques to anticipate and address financial risks.
  • Facilitate regular review sessions to ensure project strategies align with evolving needs and stakeholder expectations, while managing scope changes through a formal change control process to prevent scope creep.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation to ensure transparency and compliance with governance requirements, facilitating audits and reviews.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks by developing contingency plans to address resource constraints and ensure continuous project progress.
  • Implement quality control measures, conduct regular audits, and ensure adherence to engineering standards, nuclear industry regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Prepare and deliver real‑time project reports using digital tools (e.g., Power BI) to provide stakeholders with visibility into project status, budget health, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to secure licences, manage contracts, and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate and administer project agreements with external parties, such as local authorities and developers, to meet project obligations and maintain positive relationships.
  • Develop and manage resource plans to anticipate future project needs, ensuring the timely recruitment, reallocation, and alignment of resources.
  • Foster a collaborative culture within multidisciplinary teams by promoting alignment on project goals, implementing team‑building activities, and facilitating effective cross‑functional problem‑solving.
  • Demonstrate integrity, transparency, and ethical behaviour in all dealings, while ensuring adherence to updated industry standards, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Promote continuous improvement by encouraging professional development, staying current with evolving project management methodologies, and cultivating a culture of safety and compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional Project management qualification e.g. APM PMQ or PMI equivalent.
  • Chartered Member (or working towards) or Full Membership of a relevant professional body (i.e. APM ChPP or APM MAPM).
  • Ideally you will have experience working within the Nuclear sector, however a background within any regulated environment will also be considered (i.e. Rail, Water, Energy etc.).
  • Understanding of nuclear industry regulations and safety requirements impacting project management.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities, with a focus on identifying and mitigating risks in complex systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and supportive environment, whilst developing team members’ skills and capabilities.
  • Capability to embrace change and uncertainty and welcome the emergent aspect of the job.
  • Ability to lead in a collaborative, multi‑party environment at pace.
  • Proven track record of leading by example, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and ethical behaviour.
  • Experience working within a startup or similar innovative environment, showcasing adaptability and comfort with uncertainty is desirable.
