As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Senior Environmental Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. You will manage small to medium sized Environmental Impact Assessments projects and work closely with our clients. You’ll help improve quality of life with your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, in areas such as protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise. The work is in diverse, high-profile projects and locations. We aim to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion high standards of environmental performance within multidisciplinary engineering projects, influencing project development, and delivering optimal environmental outcomes.
  • Coordinate the delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams across a range of projects.
  • Undertake your own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of others.
  • Proactively manage selected projects or components of projects, including resource allocation, subcontractors, quality assurance and client feedback, and communicate changes effectively.
  • Contribute to tender proposals/bids as part of a project-winning team.
  • Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
  • Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with technical specialists.
  • Develop outstanding reports with the ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non-technical audiences.
  • Manage projects with attention to technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety performance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A good working knowledge of EIA practices and procedures and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles.
  • Experience across a range of project types, ideally within energy, residential/mixed-use/regeneration, and other major infrastructure projects including rail/highways.
  • Practical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process.
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with proven experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary coordination of projects, with project management and technical skills, and professionalism in report and presentation delivery.
  • Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Desirable: Experience in SEA and/or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA); knowledge of sustainability, waste or carbon assessments.
  • Desirable: Associate Member of IEMA.
