Associate Cost Consultant – Local Authority | Arcadis, Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
As an Associate Consultant, you’ll lead the delivery of commercial management for projects within the local authority sector, working on programs of work ranging from £1m to £40m. You’ll play a key role in managing resources, ensuring projects are delivered within time, cost, and quality standards, and building strong relationships with senior clients and stakeholders. This is an opportunity to apply technical expertise, leadership skills, and innovative thinking to deliver best-value outcomes and contribute to the transformation of mobility infrastructure. Coaching and development of other team members to share knowledge, increase the team’s skill level and improve service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a number of small to medium cost projects and assignments or significant components of larger assignments, ensuring appropriate use of resources and budgets to deliver the required scope of work within set deadlines
- Provide advice to colleagues on risk management, compliance and associated behaviours, to ensure adherence to Arcadis’ risk and compliance processes
- Present project risks or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted
- Analyse and review data and documents to collate key themes and trends, using this analysis to provide advice and make recommendations to support cost and commercial management decision-making
- Use knowledge and industry best practice to analyse existing processes and policies
- Share knowledge and provide insightful recommendations to assist service improvement and innovation
- Interact across the organisation to support collaboration with the cost management function and ensure projects/programmes meet cost expectations
- Provide specialist technical advice to senior management on cost/commercial management issues, offering solutions and sharing knowledge to support delivery
- Manage relationships with clients and external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction and create new business opportunities
- Demonstrable understanding of clients’ key objectives within the sector
- Support and manage more junior staff on technically complex projects/programmes typically ranging between £1m and £40m
- Leadership: strong people management and motivational skills with experience building and managing client relationships at senior levels
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven track record in delivering medium/large projects across an entire lifecycle, with expertise in cost and commercial management
- Impact: a passion for creating value and driving success in complex, high-profile projects
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- Professional qualification or chartered status to RICS or CIOB
- CSCS card holder
- Strong construction technology and cost planning experience is preferred
