We are seeking an Asset Management Consultant to join our UK rail asset management team. In this role you will contribute to delivering our rail asset management strategy, lead consultancy projects and develop value propositions within the rail sector. You will also support our wider global advisory business across mobility, resilience and places, working as part of the mobility division and reporting to an associate director.
Role accountabilities
- Deliver projects successfully; apply your skills, knowledge and insight to enable the delivery of asset management projects on time, meeting quality and budgetary targets while striving to exceed client expectations.
- Support strategy implementation; contribute to the delivery and implementation of our UK mobility asset management strategy and help build our global capability, applying recognised international standards such as ISO55000.
- Provide advisory services; lead and support consultancy work across areas including development of our global capability, in particular in relation to the application of international asset management standards (e.g. ISO55000 suite) and risk‑/performance‑based maintenance advisory.
- Develop asset management strategies, change programmes and business cases.
- Design and implement ISO55001‑aligned management systems.
- Optimise investment decisions and long‑term business planning for asset portfolios.
- Create tools and approaches for value‑driven decisions on asset renewals, maintenance and improvements.
- Prepare asset strategies, management plans and maintenance optimisation programmes.
- Drive operational efficiency improvements.
- Enhance asset information strategies and improve data maturity.
- Build strong relationships; manage client and stakeholder engagement to deliver positive outcomes, ensuring trust and collaboration.
- Promote growth and leadership; represent Arcadis in the rail asset management market, contribute to thought leadership, support cross‑business tenders and actively showcase our capabilities to create new opportunities.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Experience of working for a transportation client or other asset‑rich organisation, or in a consultancy environment within this space.
- Supporting the resolution of strategic, tactical and/or operational challenges – examples may include asset management strategies, change programmes and/or planning; asset investment planning; risk and value assessments; operations and maintenance; development and deployment of decision support tools, asset information strategies and/or asset data quality assessments.
- Delivery of asset, infrastructure or technology projects; delivery or management experience in the transport sector.
- Project management experience.
- Strong communication skills and a high level of numeracy.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
Desirable:
- Some experience of process development, transportation or other critical infrastructure and/or operations, benefits management, data analysis.
- Tender delivery, bid experience or evaluation of bids from either a client business development or bid team perspective.
- Understanding of risk management (e.g. FMECA, Bow Tie, Fishbone), ISO55000, asset management and/or Six Sigma processes and tools.
- Expertise in one or more phases of the asset lifecycle – strategy and planning, design and build, operations and maintenance, or decommissioning.
- Some leadership experience, including managing professional team members or comparable responsibilities.
- Recognised external accreditation/qualification to Business Advisory or Asset Management capability expertise (e.g. MCA or IAM) or interest in working towards it.
