Role description
As an Arboriculturist you will join a 50‑plus strong ecology team that has over 20 years of experience undertaking the full range of ecological and arboricultural surveys and assessments. The role involves providing advice on masterplanning, mitigation and enhancement design, ecosystem service and natural capital assessment, and may cover protected species, pollution, surface water, materials management, air quality or noise in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.
Role accountabilities
- Conduct surveys and provide associated reports to improve quality of life sustainably.
- Undertake BS 5837 2012 Arboricultural surveys and produce associated reports, Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIAs) and Arboricultural Method Statements (AMSs).
- Perform climbed surveys as needed to inspect potential bat roosting features.
- Provide general advice on Arboricultural issues.
- Complete arbor projects and offer Arboricultural advice to clients.
Qualifications & Experience
- Suitable qualification (e.g., FdSc Arb, BSc or Technician’s Certificate in Arboriculture or higher or a closely related field) and membership of the Arboricultural Association or the Institute of Chartered Foresters.
- Knowledge of BS 5837 2012 Tree Quality Surveys and preparation of Arboricultural Impact Assessments / Arboricultural Method Statements.
- Experience of undertaking tree condition surveys, BS 5837 surveys and reporting, with a proven track record in writing tree reports suitable for planning applications (appropriate to grade).
- Understanding of health and safety issues regarding site survey and supervision.
- Desired certifications: LANTRA Professional Tree Inspector Certificate, CS38 (Accessing a Tree with Rope and Harness and Aerial Rescue), experience of database asset management software and tablet data collection, and experience assessing trees for potential roosting bats.
