We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with previous experience working in a consultancy environment to join our Places Design Practice. In this role, you’ll be delivering elegant and efficient mechanical design solutions on exciting and challenging projects for key clients. We work with our clients around the world to create, support, and enhance smart, safe and sustainable places where people live, work, learn and thrive. Places impact on the quality of people’s lives. Whether new homes, shops, workplaces, schools and hospitals, manufacturing, research and development facilities, or data and distribution centres. Role accountabilities:

  • You’ll be responsible for leading the mechanical design on larger projects, working collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution.
  • You will need to present complex technical solutions to clients.
  • As a Principal Engineer, you will manage project teams with up to 10 people, providing technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development.
  • You will manage the performance of team members and sub-contractors, identifying and ensuring the resolution of any issues.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng)
  • Previous experience working in a similar role
  • Prior experience working in a consultancy environment
  • Ability to support and lead junior engineers
