We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Health Media Communications Director to join the healthcare communications team of a celebrated Top 20 integrated agency. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned leader with a strong background in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading healthcare brands and organisations, delivering earned media campaigns that influence decision-makers, policymakers, and patients. We are looking for someone who lives and breathes health media relations - whilst this is a senior agency role, we are open to seeing candidates from journalist, in-house and government backgrounds as well as agency. Key Responsibilities as Director:

  • Client Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to senior clients, providing strategic counsel on healthcare communications, policy, and advocacy. Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring the delivery of high-impact programmes.
  • Business Development: Lead new business efforts, including proactive prospecting, responding to RFPs, and pitching for new accounts. Drive growth within the existing client portfolio.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor teams to deliver best-in-class campaigns. Oversee operational delivery, including capacity planning, profitability, forecasting, and billing.
  • Campaign Excellence: Develop and implement creative, omnichannel campaigns, leveraging earned, paid, and digital media to achieve measurable outcomes.

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in healthcare communications with media relations or health journalist expertise.
  • Proven expertise in pharmaceutical communications, including a strong understanding of commercial priorities, regulatory landscapes, and the health ecosystem.
  • A track record of delivering complex, multi-market campaigns with demonstrable outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams to success.
  • A proactive, growth-oriented mindset with a commitment to excellence.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
