Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Leasehold Enfranchisement Solicitor to help lead and develop our expanding legal team. This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than simply managing a caseload. We're looking for a leader who enjoys mentoring junior lawyers, improving processes, developing people and helping shape the future of a growing specialist practice.
The Role
You will play a key leadership role within the department, overseeing a team of paralegals, trainee solicitors and junior fee earners while maintaining a selective caseload of complex and high-value matters. Working closely with the Directors, you will be responsible for ensuring excellent client service, maintaining technical standards, supporting compliance and helping drive the continued growth of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor paralegals, trainee solicitors and junior fee earners.
- Provide technical support and guidance on complex leasehold enfranchisement matters.
- Oversee the progression of team caseloads to ensure quality, efficiency and client satisfaction.
- Handle a limited caseload of complex statutory and voluntary lease extensions, collective enfranchisement and related landlord and tenant matters.
- Assist with business development, networking and maintaining relationships with referrers and industry professionals.
- Help develop departmental systems, workflows and precedents.
- Support regulatory compliance, file reviews and risk management.
- Assist with recruitment, training and professional development within the team.
- Contribute to marketing, thought leadership and content for the firm's growing online presence.
Experience Required
We're looking for an experienced solicitor with significant expertise in residential leasehold enfranchisement. You should have:
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
- Strong experience advising on lease extensions and collective enfranchisement under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993.
- Experience handling voluntary lease extensions and related landlord and tenant work.
- Confidence supervising junior lawyers and supporting their technical development.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and client management skills.
- Commercial awareness with an interest in helping grow a specialist practice.
- A collaborative leadership style and a genuine passion for mentoring others.
Desirable
- Experience conducting First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) matters.
- Experience acting for both leaseholders and freeholders.
- Existing relationships with surveyors, managing agents or property professionals.
- An interest in legal technology, process improvement and developing efficient case management systems.
