Role Purpose

The Mechanical Project Manager plays a vital role in the successful delivery of mechanical works across projects, ensuring all elements are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This position demands a technically knowledgeable, highly organised professional who upholds Arcade UK Ltd’s values while leading project teams and maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and compliance.

In addition to overseeing project execution, the Mechanical Project Manager will serve as a liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring all mechanical systems are coordinated and aligned with broader project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of mechanical projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and close-out.
  • Review project documentation, technical specifications, and client requirements to prepare accurate scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with internal design and Directors to ensure alignment between drawings, procurement, and delivery schedules.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, regularly updating clients and internal stakeholders on progress.
  • Manage change control processes, including variations, RFIs, and site instructions.

Technical Oversight and Compliance

  • Ensure mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, pipework, etc.) are installed and commissioned according to approved plans, relevant regulations, and best practices.
  • Monitor and manage installation quality and resolve technical issues in collaboration with engineers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, CDM regulations, and company protocols.
  • Maintain and update project documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, O&M manuals, and commissioning records.

Health and Safety

  • Develop, review, and issue comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all project activities.
  • Conduct regular health and safety audits to ensure ongoing compliance with statutory requirements and company standards.
  • Lead site-based safety briefings and toolbox talks as part of proactive safety engagement.
  • Report and investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly, ensuring learnings are shared and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain accurate health and safety records, liaising with the company’s HSE representatives as required.

Team and Subcontractor Management

  • Lead site teams and subcontractors, ensuring effective coordination and clear communication.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and coordination meetings to track progress and identify risks early.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers or supervisors where applicable.

Client and Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as the primary contact for clients on all mechanical-related matters.
  • Provide technical advice, updates, and issue resolution in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with other project managers, consultants, and main contractors to deliver integrated solutions.

Procurement and Cost Control

  • Assist in the selection and procurement of materials and mechanical subcontractors.
  • Track and control costs, ensuring delivery within approved budgets.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to manage valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical building services and current industry regulations.
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical projects in a construction or MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Simpro or similar systems is advantageous.
