I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a high-tech engineering company that is at the forefront of innovation in complex system design. We're looking for an experienced Safety Engineer with a solid foundation in machine safety and mechanical/electrical engineering to join their multidisciplinary team for a 6-month contract based in Bristol.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Leading the safety integration of sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems within a highly collaborative engineering environment.
  • Driving the safety management process, ensuring all designs are both safe and compliant with system performance requirements.
  • Applying in-depth knowledge of the Machinery Directive (including Annex I and Annex VII) to ensure all equipment meets health and safety regulations.
  • Conducting FMEA, hazard identification, and risk assessments to mitigate design-related risks.
  • Reviewing and advising on design suitability from a safety and regulatory perspective.
  • Compiling and managing Technical Files, and liaising with Notified Bodies to support Type Approval processes.
  • Producing compliant instructions for use and related safety documentation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Chartered Engineer
  • Design engineering background
  • A senior-level Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with a proven track record in machine safety
  • Mechanical design background
  • Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering (mechanical, electrical, control/instrumentation, software).
  • Hands-on experience with Machinery Directive compliance, safety protocols, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions and with external regulators.
