A Mechanical Engineer opportunity has arisen to join a leading global engineering organisation working at the forefront of advanced industrial technology. Based in the greater Bristol area, this role offers the chance to contribute to the design and delivery of high-performance mechanical systems and subsystems used in complex, safety-critical manufacturing environments worldwide.

You will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team focused on innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

The Role

Reporting to the Associate Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering expertise across projects and subsystem developments. You will play a key role in ensuring engineering outputs meet performance, safety, compliance, and commercial requirements while supporting the successful progression of projects from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical engineering expertise across projects, including subsystems and technology developments
  • Support mechanical engineering activities across a range of product development programmes
  • Apply best-practice mechanical engineering to ensure delivery to time, cost, quality, and specification
  • Contribute to technical governance, ensuring safety, reliability, compliance, and quality standards are met
  • Develop and distribute engineering work packages across cross-functional teams
  • Support project delivery through key milestones through to volume production
  • Advocate for design best practices and continuous improvement across engineering activities
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve technical challenges

About You

You will be a motivated mechanical engineer with a strong foundation in engineering principles and a passion for high-quality design and development in a regulated environment. Essential Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (BEng minimum) or equivalent qualification
  • Understanding and application of Design for X principles (e.g. manufacture, cost, assembly, maintainability)
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and further technical learning
  • Strong interest in mechanical engineering design and product development

Desirable Experience

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience working in mechanical design within a relevant engineering industry
  • Familiarity with regulated and compliance-driven engineering environments
  • Understanding of product safety and applicable industry standards, such as:
    • EN 61511
    • SEMI S2
    • SEMI S10
    • Risk assessment and design review methodologies including PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA
  • Working towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution
