Role Overview

The Management Accountant role delivers financial reporting, analysis, and operational finance support across the Harwell and Atom portfolios (Oxford, West London and Uxbridge). The role works closely with the Group Financial Controller and Finance Manager and is expected to evolve as the business grows. This position is suited to a newly or part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant (or qualified by experience) with real estate exposure and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly & Quarterly Reporting
    • Prepare quarterly Budget vs Actual variance analysis (Harwell & Atom)
    • Produce quarterly OPEX forecasts (Atom)
    • Perform monthly intercompany reconciliations
    • Prepare and post month-end journals including accruals and prepayments
    • Produce monthly management reporting
    • Calculate and post intercompany interest
    • Review unspent purchase orders and support cost control
    • Assist with regular cash management
    • Process service charge non-recoverable costs
  • Revenue, Billing & Lease Accounting
    • Maintain and update subscription and rental billing for lease changes, including rent reviews, rent free periods, and lease regears (Harwell)
    • Review and validate rental invoices to ensure accuracy and contractual compliance
    • Prepare and review completion statements for new customers, lease surrenders, and lease regears
    • Ensure accurate cut off and revenue recognition in line with lease agreements
    • Liaise with Property and Estates teams to resolve billing queries
  • Financial Close, Statutory Reporting & Annual Compliance
    • Assist in the preparation and review of year end accounts for Harwell and Atom
    • Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and group policies
    • Support internal and external audit processes, including provision of audit schedules and responses to queries
    • Prepare and allocate annual insurance premium costs across buildings for Harwell and Atom
    • Ensure timely and accurate completion of year end close activities in line with reporting timetables
    • Support ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements
  • General Finance Support
    • Support business rates mitigation activities
    • Ensure GL coding compliance
    • Maintain reporting tools and monthly outputs
    • Support governance and SOX compliance
    • Provide VAT and tax guidance
    • Support budgeting and forecasting
    • Ad-hoc projects as required

Essential Experience

  • Experience working within a small finance team, with multiple stakeholders
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA part or newly qualified or qualified by experience
  • Strong Excel skills and IT literacy
