To finish, check, pack and despatch printed work to the standard our clients expect and within the deadlines we have committed to.

The role sits at the final stage of production, where wide-format and reprographic output is trimmed, mounted, collated and bound, then packed and prepared for collection or delivery.

It is the last quality check before work leaves the building, so accuracy and care matter as much as speed.

No previous print experience is required.

Full training will be given on all equipment and processes, and the role offers a route into wider production and machine operating work for anyone who wants it.

Key responsibilities

• Print finishing – wide format & reprographics
• Collect printed output from wide-format, production printers and copiers, checking it against the job ticket for size, scale, quantity, colour and print quality.
• Laminate, encapsulate and mount output onto foamex, board and other substrates.
• Collate and bind document sets – wiro, comb, perfect and stitched binding.
• Apply eyelets, hems, pockets, mounting tape and hanging strips to display and signage work as specified.
• Roll, tube, sleeve or flat-pack large-format work so it arrives undamaged.
• Carry out routine operator maintenance on finishing equipment – blade changes, cleaning, roller checks, consumable replacement – and report faults promptly.
• Keep consumable stock (film, board, binding supplies, tape, tubes) in good order and flag when items need reordering.
• Pick and assemble completed orders against job tickets and delivery notes, confirming that every item and quantity is present before packing.
• Select the right packaging for the product and journey – tubes, corrugated wraps, board-backed envelopes, pallets, boxes and protective infill.
• Pack work securely and neatly so it is protected in transit and presents well on arrival.
• Label and address parcels accurately, produce delivery notes and courier documentation, and book consignments with couriers and carriers.
• Prepare loads for the company's own drivers, and hand over collections to couriers and clients.
• Support stock counts and help keep packaging and materials areas tidy and properly stocked.
• Quality, accuracy & housekeeping
• Check your own work against the job ticket and reject or re-run anything that is not right, rather than passing it on.
• Escalate quality problems, missing information or deadline risks to the supervisor early.
• Follow documented production and quality procedures, including any client-specific instructions.
• Keep work areas, machines and the despatch bay clean, clear and organised throughout the shift.
• Segregate and dispose of waste correctly, including recycling of paper, board and film.

Structured on-the-job training is provided on every process and machine in the role, alongside health and safety, manual handling and equipment-specific instruction.

Progression routes include senior finishing operative, machine operator on wide-format and production print, and despatch or production team leader.

• Working conditions
• Production environment – standing for most of the shift, with machine noise and regular movement between work areas.
• Regular manual handling of paper, board, rolls and parcels, using lifting aids where provided.
• Occasional overtime, and some flexibility on start and finish times, to meet client deadlines.
