We are working with an established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy looking to strengthen its electrical engineering team in Edinburgh, with interest in experienced engineers operating at Senior, Principal or Associate level. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in electrical building services design who is comfortable taking responsibility for project delivery, working directly with clients and design teams, and supporting more junior engineers, while remaining hands-on with the technical engineering work. The Role
- You will take responsibility for the electrical design and delivery of building services projects, from early-stage concept and scheme design through to detailed design and construction.
- The role will involve managing multiple projects and coordinating delivery across clients, design teams and internal disciplines.
- Manage the electrical building services design and delivery of multiple projects.
- Develop electrical design strategies, concept designs and scheme proposals.
- Take responsibility for detailed electrical design, specifications and technical output.
- Plan project workloads, design programmes and delivery deadlines.
- Attend client, design team and project meetings.
- Coordinate electrical designs with other engineering disciplines.
- Supervise, delegate to and support junior engineers.
- Review technical work and maintain appropriate design and QA standards.
- Support projects through construction and post-contract stages, including site meetings, installation reviews, testing, defects and completion.
About You
- You will be an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in building services design, ideally gained within an engineering consultancy or similar MEP design environment.
- You should be comfortable managing your own projects and representing the consultancy directly with clients and wider project teams.
- We are looking for someone who is hard-working, focused and driven, with strong time and task management skills and a collaborative approach.
- You will need to be comfortable balancing multiple deadlines and taking responsibility for both your own work and the wider delivery of your projects.
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in electrical building services design.
- Experience taking responsibility for project delivery and managing multiple projects.
- Confident working directly with clients and other members of the design team.
- Ability to supervise, delegate to and support junior engineers.
- Strong technical capability and a good understanding of design quality and QA.
- Good working knowledge of relevant electrical design software.
- UK driving licence preferable, with some travel to meetings and project sites required.
