I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join their busy traffic office. This is an excellent opportunity for a transport professional with strong leadership skills and deep knowledge of the haulage and container industry to play a key role in maintaining operational excellence and delivering outstanding service to customers.
As Senior Transport Planner, you will oversee day‑to‑day traffic operations while leading a busy planning team. You will ensure allocated vehicles operate efficiently, service levels are consistently met, and revenues are maximised.
Port Coverage
- Port of Felixstowe
- London Gateway
- Whittlesey
- Port of Southampton
Travel to other depots will be required, including regular visits to the Southampton depot.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating container haulage operations across multiple ports
- Managing allocated trucks to ensure revenue targets and service levels are achieved
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of planners
- Managing driver communication and maintaining strong working relationships
- Resolving daily operational issues efficiently and effectively
- Booking and managing VBS (Vehicle Booking System) slots accurately
- Maintaining high standards of compliance and operational control under pressure
About You

Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a transport planning role
- At least 2 years in a senior planning position
- Minimum 2 years’ experience leading a planning team
- Strong understanding of port operations and VBS systems
- Solid knowledge of the haulage and container industry
- Proven ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines
