We are currently working on behalf of a well-established and respected civil engineering contractor who is seeking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a strong pipeline of infrastructure and civil engineering projects. This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor with proven experience in civils, infrastructure, highways, utilities, or related sectors, looking to join a stable business offering long-term progression.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to final account. Key responsibilities include:
- Commercial management of civils and infrastructure projects
- Preparation and submission of valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
- Cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle
- Procurement and commercial management of subcontractors and suppliers
- Management of variations, change control, and contractual entitlements
- Production of cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial reports
- Working closely with site teams to ensure accurate cost control
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering works such as earthworks, drainage, roads, utilities, or structures
- Good understanding of construction contracts (NEC/JCT experience preferred)
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Relevant construction or commercial qualifications (preferred)
