Lead Infra and Cloud Architect is sought by prestigious and leading City based global financial services organisation.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping and evolving the hybrid on-prem/Azure environment.
This role focuses on platform architecture rather than application design and truly modern architecture.
You will help define and implement the core Azure infrastructure foundations that support enterprise workloads across the organisation.
The position involves designing secure, scalable and well-governed cloud environments across hybrid infrastructure, working closely with engineering, security and Dev Ops teams to ensure architecture is delivered in practice.
Key responsibilities
- Designing Azure Landing Zones and platform architecture
- Designing hybrid connectivity between on-premises environments and Azure
- Develop comprehensive cloud and infrastructure solutions, including hybrid and multi-cloud environments, in line with organisational goals.
- Lead the deployment and configuration of infrastructure platforms (eg, Azure, VMware, Cisco), ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Monitor and analyse infrastructure performance, recommending improvements and proactively resolving issues.
- Optimise resource utilisation to control costs, including budgeting, forecasting, and vendor management.
- Work closely with the Dev Ops, security, and operations teams to support deployments and ongoing infrastructure projects.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, driving adoption where beneficial to the organisation.
Key requirements
- Significant experience designing distributed enterprise Cloud Native systems in hybrid environments.
- Both Cloud (Azure) and currently on-prem experience
- Expertise in Azure Iaa S and Paa S services, and virtualisation technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking, storage, security, and disaster recovery.
- Proven track record in using Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) tools such as Ansible and Terraform
- Experience with Configuration as Code, Policy as Code and Architecture as Code.
- Proven ability in strategic planning and cloud transformation initiatives.
- Desirable: Diagrams as code, ie C4 Modelling and Structurizr, Mermaid, Plantuml,
- Desirable: Threat Modelling and Secure by design principles.
- Desirable: Understanding of ZTNA.
