Senior QA Engineer
Mainly remote, with occasional London office visits | Up to £70,000
Our client, a growing technology business, is looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join their delivery teams and take real ownership of quality across key initiatives. This is a hands-on role embedded in scrum teams, where you’ll be testing day to day while also helping to shape working practices and standards as the teams scale.
The role is predominantly remote. You’ll be in the central London office once a week during your first few months while you get settled in, and after that just once or twice a month.
What you’ll be doing
- Contributing to planning and estimation, and creating test plans that cover both functional and non-functional requirements
- Running manual and automated testing, and building and maintaining scalable automated test suites
- Turning acceptance criteria into BDD feature files
- Raising and triaging bugs with clear, useful detail, including risk and impact assessments
- Reporting on test coverage, status and issues to a range of stakeholders
- Sharing knowledge and documenting what you know so the team isn’t reliant on any one person
- Driving continuous improvement within your scrum team
We are looking for candidates who have :
- 7+ years’ experience in QA, with a strong background in agile environments
- Proven experience testing .NET backend services and JavaScript frontend applications
- Deep test automation expertise and confidence with a range of testing tools
- A track record of writing clear, thorough test plans and test cases
- ISTQB/ISEB qualification
- An understanding of .NET and JS code would be a real advantage
- Non-functional or security testing experience is a bonus
You will need to be collaborative, self-motivated and always looking for ways to improve, both in your own work and across the team. You communicate clearly and confidently with people at every level, you’re well organised, and you have a delivery mindset that helps build a positive team culture.
