We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing transport and logistics business based in Harwich. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Transport Office Administrator to their busy operations team. This is a varied and hands-on role that would suit someone with previous experience within a transport, shipping, logistics, or container haulage environment. No two days are the same, and the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of daily transport operations.

The Role

  • Processing customer orders and transport bookings
  • Assisting with customs clearance documentation and related administration
  • Supporting transport planners with daily vehicle scheduling and route planning
  • Updating and maintaining information on in-house transport management systems
  • Liaising with customers, drivers, ports, and suppliers
  • Monitoring shipment and container movements
  • Ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and within required timescales
  • Handling general administrative duties to support the wider operations team
  • Assisting with customer enquiries and providing updates on deliveries and collections

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working within a transport, logistics, shipping, or container haulage office
  • Knowledge of container operations and associated documentation
  • Experience of customs clearance processes would be highly advantageous
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confidence using computer systems and Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
