Are you an experienced Container Transport Planner looking for a role where your expertise genuinely makes a difference? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing transport operator that specialises in container logistics across the UK's major ports. Due to continued growth, they're looking to appoint a Senior Transport Planner to join their busy traffic office and take ownership of key planning operations across their container fleet.

The Opportunity
As Senior Transport Planner, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of daily transport operations, planning container movements through some of the UK's busiest ports while maximising fleet utilisation and delivering exceptional customer service. You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating movements through:
- Felixstowe
- London Gateway
- Southampton
- Whittlesey
You'll also have the opportunity to work closely with operational teams across the wider business, including occasional visits to other depot locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating container haulage operations across multiple UK ports
- Maximising vehicle utilisation while maintaining customer service levels
- Managing and booking port slots through VBS systems
- Monitoring daily operations and proactively resolving issues before they impact service
- Ensuring compliance with Drivers' Hours regulations and transport legislation
- Using DESTIN8 and transport management systems to maintain accurate operational records
- Building strong relationships with drivers, customers and port authorities
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues within the planning team where required
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3 years' experience within container transport planning
- Strong knowledge of Felixstowe, London Gateway and Southampton port operations
- Previous experience using VBS systems
- Working knowledge of DESTIN8
- Excellent understanding of Drivers' Hours and transport compliance
- Ability to make decisions quickly and remain calm under pressure
- Strong communication and organisational skills
What You'll Receive
- Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 DOE
