Our client, a well-established and growing organisation based in the Cambridge area, is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in managing transport operations within a professional and supportive environment.
The Role
- Reporting into senior management, you will take responsibility for the efficient and compliant running of transport operations, ensuring high service levels and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day transport operations including routing, scheduling and fleet utilisation.
- Ensure compliance with UK transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements.
- Lead, supervise and support drivers and transport staff.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance, servicing, MOTs and defect reporting processes.
- Maintain accurate records and transport documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph regulations.
- Investigate incidents, manage compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
- Manage transport budgets and control operational costs.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Support recruitment, training and performance management of drivers.
- Promote health & safety standards across the transport function.
- Produce KPI and performance reports for senior management.
About You
- Proven experience in a Transport Manager or senior transport supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance.
- Transport Manager CPC qualification preferred.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
