Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + Benefits

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading Civils and Groundworks subcontractor delivering works on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects at Sizewell. We're looking for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join the site team, supporting the accurate delivery of major civils and groundworks packages. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a landmark infrastructure project where precision, quality and collaboration are key to successful project delivery.

The Role

As a Setting Out Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring all works are set out accurately and completed in accordance with project drawings, specifications and programme requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out setting out for civils and groundworks works using modern surveying equipment.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and ensuring works are delivered accurately.
  • Establishing and maintaining site control points and survey data.
  • Checking levels, line and dimensions throughout construction activities.
  • Supporting Site Managers and Project Managers with the day-to-day delivery of works.
  • Maintaining accurate setting out records and as-built information.
  • Assisting with quality assurance processes, inspections and documentation.
  • Identifying and resolving engineering issues on site.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Liaising with subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are delivered efficiently and to programme.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a motivated Setting Out Engineer with experience working on civil engineering or groundworks projects. You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer within Civils, Groundworks or Infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in using Leica, Trimble or similar surveying equipment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and construction specifications.
  • Experience producing and maintaining accurate survey and as-built records.
  • Good knowledge of QA procedures and site documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within site teams.
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) is desirable.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
